Flowers, chocolates, romantic getaways, dinner cooked for you, telling you you're beautiful or just a hug? What is your cup of tea? What makes your heart skip a beat? What is your Love Language? I have always been the person that has to show my love by doing something for them. Acts of service is definitely my love language. Sometimes that makes it difficult in a relationship when your love languages aren't the same. That doesn't mean you're not compatible, that just means you may have to work a little harder. Acts of service to me is going to three different stores to pick up your favorite snacks or picking something you may need at the hardware store. Making sure dinner is ready when you get home from work or just mowing the grass so you don't have to. I love to mow the grass though. Those are examples of ways I show my love. I make that my priority in life. I also love to see the same given to me. Giving gifts and quality time are my top love languages that I give. I love to give thoughtful or hand crafted gifts. I also love to sit and talk with a loved one, I love spending quality time with them. I truly struggle with giving words of affirmation and physical touch. I am working on the words of affirmation with everyone I love. With words of affirmation, I still try to let people know I appreciate them, but I dislike saying empty words or things I barely mean. I also love my personal space, so physical touch I tend to struggle with. Trying to balance them all can definitely help with your relationships, but isn't always easy. Love languages can change over time due to age, life experiences, trauma, or self-growth. If you would have asked me when I was in my early twenties, I probably would have said physical touch and words of affirmation would have been number ones to receive, but after age and life experience my love language has definitely changed. I now want to receive 1) Acts of Service: I too want what I give, someone to do what I need done without asking. 2) Quality Time: I enjoy doing projects together or spending the day doing things we love. 3) Words of Affirmation: Who doesn't want to hear you're doing a great job. 4) Gift Giving: I do not like gifts (unless it's something sentimental and thoughtful...I don't really need monetary gifts! 5) Physical Touch: It is not necessary and I like my personal space. A hug every once in awhile is definitely okay. How do you rank your love languages and how does it effect your relationships. Take a little time and think about what you need to fill your love tank! Once you know your strengths and weaknesses, it can help you fill their tank as well. You also may have more than one love language that fills your tank. Everyone is different and everyone's combination of love languages could be different too. Cheers to finding what fills your tank and cheers to having a full love tank! CLINK! Just another daily dose of T.
